About Greg (written by Greg)
It's very difficult to sit here and write a biography about yourself. In an ideal world, I'd write this in third person and pretend it's not me sitting here doing it but it is me. As a general note, if you bother to look at a minor celebrity's website, it will have been written by them even if they pretend it hasn't been. Quite sad really.
Anyway, I'm sitting here in the bath writing this. I'm balancing the laptop on of those wooden trays that goes across the tub. It's quite a fancy bit of wood and has even got a slot to put a wine glass in. It was actually sent to me by a listener to the Radio 1 Breakfast Show a few years ago and I use it all that time.
So, me then...Well, I'm on the radio every day, on the telly sometimes, writing books often and online every few minutes like everyone else.
I've been on Radio 1 since 2007 and been doing the Breakfast Show since 2018. If I survive another year, in May 2027, I will become the longest serving host of it ever - which is insane to me. But let's not count the chickens before they've hatched. I've got a lot of early morning alarms to get through before then.
Elsewhere, I'm the proud of host the TAILENDERS loosely cricket-based podcast on BBC Sounds along with Jimmy Anderson, Felix White, Mattchin Tendulkar and Issy Wong. I also have a daft Radio 4 archive show called REWINDER which I absolutely adore doing when they can find space in their very busy schedule. I created the F1 podcast THE FAST AND THE CURIOUS a few years ago and can't believe how well that's gone. We're about to be snapped up by Sky Sports F1 as part of their coverage which is ridiculously cool and I appear on that whenever I have a spare moment. But really, it was always meant to be a show for Christian Hewgill and Betty Glover to run with. And run with it they have! It's so fun.
Most recently, I have just announced that I am starting a brand new comedy podcast with the great Alice Levine called BAD CHAT - a new episode of which will be out every Thursday.
Another huge passion of mine is writing. I have just released my debut non-fiction, non-memoir, non-self-help book ALL THE BEST FOR THE FUTURE which was a Number 1 Sunday Times Bestseller. That's good isn't it. I also have been writing children's books with Chris Smith for nearly ten years. KID NORMAL, THE GREAT DREAM ROBBERY, SUPERGHOST, THE KID WHO FELL THROUGH TIME and THE TWITS NEXT DOOR have been a complete joy to create. And we're about to launch a brand new Christmas adventure later this year. Along with that, two more TWITS books are coming...Beware!
TV wise, well, I've done a lot of fun shows but in truth, nothing that fulfils me and gives me as much joy as any of the stuff I've mentioned above. I'm spoilt with how much freedom and creative licence I'm given with it all that TV often feels so constrained. This isn't a moan by the way and I've loved hosting various BBC Three shows in the early years, and then a few music shows for the BBC, live shows such as Comic Relief and Children In Need and most recently I fronted Channel 4's RISE AND FALL - which although was actually pretty good - it rose and then fell. Like most things.
You might have seen me on BAKE OFF for Stand Up To Cancer, TASKMASTER New Year's Treat, Would I Lie To You and various other things. I'm boring myself now.
Go and have a look at some of the fun stuff. Bye! x
